Removing the out files removes about 350MB of data which helps staying
in the currently allocated ptest image space as we are hitting disk
space issues after enabling the parallelization of tests.

Section VMA's are currently hardcoded. This doesn't work anymore starting
with systemd-boot v254.
Follow the actually solution to this which is documented here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Unified_kernel_image#Manually
This is also used by dracut. Later on, we may want to switch to ukify
instead but this is not ready yet.

In order to be able to debug issues on the host that have an impact on the
guest, it is useful to get the uptime of the host while starting so we can
match with the events in dmesg. Also include the uptime when cleaning up.

dpkg is using a script (dpkg-architecture.pl) to detect the target
architecture automatically.
Unfortunately, it is using the cross compiler prefix to do the detection
and for ARM, oe-core is using <vendor>-linux-gnueabi for toolchains with
and without call-convention hard. The script then always detects
'armel' and never gets 'armhf' for call-convention hard.
This solves:
dpkg: error processing archive evtest_1.32+0+b8343ec112-r0_armhf.deb (--install):
package architecture (armhf) does not match system (armel)
Errors were encountered while processing:

For some architectures it is necessary to reserve space on disk without
it being present in the partition table.
For example, u-boot on i.mx is placed at an offset of 1kB on the sdcard.
While it would be possible to create a partition at that offset and
place u-boot there, it would then be necessary to update the default
u-boot environment to use partition 2 on the mmc instead of partition 1.

Use kB instead of MB for the partition size to get a better granularity.
This is needed on some SoC (i.mx, omap) where it is necessary to create
partitions as small as 64kB.
Keep the backward compatibility by assuming MB when no unit is provided.

When using a defconfig, using yes '' | make oldconfig may not result in
the correct configuration being set. For example:
$ ARCH=mips make qi_lb60_defconfig
#
# configuration written to .config
#
$ grep USB_ETH .config
CONFIG_USB_ETH=y
# CONFIG_USB_ETH_RNDIS is not set
# CONFIG_USB_ETH_EEM is not set
$ cp arch/mips/configs/qi_lb60_defconfig .config
$ yes '' | make ARCH=mips oldconfig
[...]
$ grep USB_ETH .config
CONFIG_USB_ETH=m
# CONFIG_USB_ETH_RNDIS is not set
# CONFIG_USB_ETH_EEM is not set
Using make olddefconfig solves that but we'll use the oldnoconfig alias
for backward compatibility with older kernels.
$ cp arch/mips/configs/qi_lb60_defconfig .config
$ make ARCH=mips oldnoconfig
scripts/kconfig/conf --olddefconfig Kconfig
#
# configuration written to .config
#
$ grep USB_ETH .config
CONFIG_USB_ETH=y
# CONFIG_USB_ETH_RNDIS is not set
# CONFIG_USB_ETH_EEM is not set
